DJI is preparing to launch a new action camera that is small enough to slip into a pocket yet loaded with creative potential. Recent leaks of images and a short video reveal the DJI Osmo Nano, a compact successor to the Action 2 released four years ago. This modular design is clearly positioned to compete with Insta360’s Go lineup.

The Osmo Nano’s main attraction is its modular build. A miniature camera module, even smaller than the Action 2, connects magnetically to a separate display unit. The camera can clip onto clothing, hats, or even a pet’s collar for unique viewpoints, then be reattached to the display for real-time previews or playback. Unlike the Insta360 Go 3S, which uses a flip-up case, the Osmo Nano’s rotating display makes it easy to shift between first-person and selfie shooting ideal for vloggers and adventure enthusiasts.

Leaked photos suggest the unit looks slightly bulkier when assembled, but the magnetic mounting system opens the door to creative setups, from chest-mounted POV shots to stable tripod captures. Storage is another highlight. Confirmed details include a 128 GB version, with rumors pointing to a 64 GB model as well, both supporting microSD expansion. The 64 GB variant is expected to cost about $431 (€369), while the 128 GB may be priced at $466 (€399), undercutting the Go Ultra’s entry price of €429.
Details on sensor size and image performance remain undisclosed, raising concerns about low-light capabilities, a common challenge for compact action cameras. While the Action 5 Pro showed significant improvements in this area, the Osmo Nano’s small footprint could limit its results. Even so, its ability to attach almost anywhere without risking a pricey smartphone makes it a versatile choice for capturing dynamic footage. Extra accessories such as magnetic clips for clothing or collars only expand its appeal for skateboarders, pet owners, and creators chasing new perspectives.
