Jetson’s First Global Delivery Takes Flight with Palmer Luckey, Ushering in a New Era of Personal eVTOL Travel

In Carlsbad, California, a select group gathered to witness a milestone moment for aviation. The Jetson ONE, a fully electric personal aircraft, was delivered to Palmer Luckey, the entrepreneur behind Oculus and Anduril Industries.

Jetson’s story began in 2017 when inventor Tomasz Patan built the first prototype in his workshop in Poland. By 2022, the company had relocated to Italy, expanded production, and transformed the Jetson ONE into a commercially ready electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle. Designed for everyday users seeking a way to bypass traffic, the Jetson ONE quickly attracted more than 500 buyers, with Luckey receiving the very first unit.

A lifelong aviation enthusiast, Palmer Luckey was a natural fit as Jetson’s first customer. He had expressed interest years earlier and committed to purchasing one of their aircraft. Although delivery was initially planned for early 2023, Jetson delayed to refine the machine. Luckey remained supportive throughout the process, encouraging the team to focus on precision. On delivery day, founders Tomasz Patan and CEO Stephan D’haene guided him through setup and training. Within 50 minutes, Luckey completed ground instruction and soon after lifted off for his first low altitude flights.

The exclusive Founders Edition, limited to 100 units, comes with a sleek two tone carbon and white finish, premium leather seating, LED lighting, and quick swap batteries. Details like a red accent on the fairings and a numbered carbon headrest plate add distinction, while practical extras such as a carbon dolly and smart chargers ensure ease of ownership. More than just transportation, the Jetson ONE blends safety, simplicity, and advanced technology into a forward-looking yet approachable aircraft.

Jetson plans to deliver additional units across the United States and Europe, while also building a new headquarters in California to expand operations and pilot training. The Jetson ONE is positioned not as a luxury novelty but as a step toward making personal flight as common as driving. This development reflects a broader global movement, with drones already delivering packages in Rwanda and air taxis undergoing demonstrations in Japan.
